Tim Duffy (head of Music Maker Relief Foundation) called Roots on Ninth the largest gathering of Carolina Roots artists ever assembled. Family activities, children's activity areas and food were also on hand. Festival benefited WNCU Radio, which broadcasted live from the event, and the Music Makers Relief Foundation, a non-profit organization that helps support pioneering Southern roots musicians.
